Half day excursions in Alicante

Half day excursions in Alicante

After your Spanish classes, you will get the chance to take part in excursions with other students to places of interest outside Elche.

Alicante

Only 15 minute drive from Elche lies the city of Alicante. Our students will have the chance to discover it on a guided tour of its most prominent streets, landmarks and monuments. Santa Barbara Castle, the port and the Old Town are a “must” on this tour.

Visit to Helados Alacant ice cream factory

This visit is a real treat for those of you who are a sweet tooth. At the factory, we will be shown the handcrafted process of making ice cream that Helados Alacant still maintains to this day. We will find out about the history of the company and how they select the best ingredients which they then turn into delicious ice cream. There is a wide variety of flavours, ranging from classics to those more typical of this region, such as “turrón”, “mantecado” or chocolate, not to mention the more innovative ones such as waffle or biscuit flavour. At the end of the visit, students will have the opportunity to taste one of these ice creams.

El Hondo Natural Reserve

This nature reserve contains two reservoirs which collect and distribute water from the mouth of the River Segura to farmers so that they can water their crops. They are surrounded by dense vegetation where several animal species live together in harmony. What’s more, there is a bird observatory where the more curious of our students can enjoy an incomparable spectacle of nature in action.

Visit to the “Turrón” Museum in Xixona

In Spain, Christmas is not Christmas if there is no turrón. Only 30 minutes from Elche lies the town of Jijona or Xixona in Valencian, the birthplace of this delicious sweet. On this excursion, we will visit a factory so that our students can see for themselves exactly how this traditional Christmas treat is made. Its main ingredients are ground almond and honey. At the end of the visit, we will be able to try the turrón and visit the shop where we will find a wide range of products.

Paintball Fight Club (Dolores)

Fun and adrenaline are assured here. The monitors at Paintball Fight Club in the town of Dolores will organise a competition which will take place in 6 different zones, where our students can run and shoot balls of paint at their classmates. The winner will be the one who manages to seize the flag without being shot.
