Work experience + Spanish course in Spain
Top School’s Work Experience programme offers young people the opportunity to establish a first contact with the working world and learn how everyday in the working field that interest them the most (restaurants, hotels, shops, nurseries, etc.), participating in an unpaid internship programme that will allow them to practice what they have studied.
Students begin their practice with an observation period, after which they will be given more responsibilities. A unique opportunity to develop new skills, take on responsibilities and to build your CV while choosing where to focus their future.
In addition, the Work Experience programme in Spain will allow students to explore a different culture, and acquire new vocabulary and skills in the Spanish language. After the working day, students will have the opportunity to continue their learning, discovering Spain, its people, its culture and customs while exploring the city or participating in different activities and excursions.
The city of Elche
Elche is a perfect place to hold a Work Experience programme, as it is a small city of 250.000 people where it is easy to move from one place to another, either on foot or by the excellent network of public buses the city boasts. The footwear industry is the most important economic engine of Elche, which favors that the city has extensive shopping, dining and entertainment options. Elche is a beautiful city best known for its three UNESCO declared World Heritage Sites, and is very well connected: just a twenty minute drive to Alicante, fifteen minutes from the airport and (even better) ten minutes from the beach! In addition, Elche boasts excellent weather throughout the year, with mild winters and warm summers.
Spanish lessons
To make the most of your group stay in Spain, the Work Experience programme includes 2 or 3 hours a day of Spanish as a Foreign Language, that will be held at Top School facilities and will give students the chance to improve their skills in the Spanish language.
The course will be taught by our teachers, who have extensive experience and qualifications in teaching Spanish to foreign students. These classes will place special emphasis on communication skills, focusing on vocabulary and skills needed to perform in the work field chosen.
Activity and excursion programme
And to make the most of the experience, it is possible to complete the Work Experience programme with different activities and excursions that give students the opportunity to learn more about Spanish culture and customs, participate in different sports and outdoor activities or visit museums and the most emblematic places in the city. Besides proposing excursions, Top School allow students to meet other nearby destinations or enjoy the fun offered by theme or water parks.
Accommodation
Students taking the Work Experience programme can choose from two accommodation options: homestay or hotel.
Homestay
All our host families are native Spanish and will provide students the perfect environment for them to practice the language and experience the customs and lifestyle of Spanish people. All of our host families are located within easy reach of our schools and regularly supervised by our Accommodation Officers.
Hotel
If you aim at promoting coexistence in your group, the best alternative is accommodation in a hotel. Located close to Top School and with excellent connections to the rest of the city, it is the perfect option for a large group. Students will stay in double or triple rooms on a full board basis. All rooms are soundproofed and equipped with everything necessary to guarantee a perfect rest. In addition, the hotel also has a cafeteria and a 24-hour snack service.
