The city of Elche

Elche is best known for its three UNESCO declared World Heritage Sites, and is very well connected: just a twenty minute drive to Alicante, fifteen minutes from the airport and (even better) ten minutes from the beach!

As it has Europe’s largest Palm Grove, Elche offers a wonderful and unique landscape that allows you to enjoy a tropical, yet pleasant atmosphere. Its typical Mediterranean climate offers soft winters and warm summers, perfect for discovering the city all year round.

Elche also merges its culture and history effortlessly with modern times. A saunter through the streets will reveal the splendid Muslim past complemented by magnificent Baroque buildings throughout the architecture, but with enough recent development to rank as the third largest city in the Valencian Community region, just behind Valencia and Alicante.

The facilities

The programme will take place in the facilities of the farm-school La Loma, a rural resort located 15 minutes from the city of Elche. It is a fun and singular place that will allow students to experience the day-to-day life in the countryside, and to participate in planting and harvesting and in the care and feeding of the animals. A fun way to instill respect and care for the environment while learning Spanish!

In addition, the resort has excellent educational, artistic, sporting and adventure facilities, including:

The Spanish or English course

The students will receive 15 hours of Spanish or English per week in the mornings. The lessons will be taught by highly-qualified teachers with a wealth of experience in teaching Spanish or English as a Foreign Language. The lessons focus on developing the students’ communicative skills through dynamic activities that will facilitate learning and encourage students to participate actively in class. Furthermore, students can choose a tailor-made course for them, whether that be general Spanish or English, or based on particular themes.

• General Spanish or English + History: The Conquest of America, El Cid, The Reconquest
• General Spanish or English + Literature: Don Quixote, Lazarillo de Tormes
• General Spanish or English + Art: Picasso, Salvador Dalí, Gaudí, etc.
• General Spanish or English + Spanish culture: festivals, Spanish cuisine, etc.

Accommodation in wooden cottages

All the students will be accommodated in wooden cottages located in the same complex where classes and activities will be held. Every cottage has two bedrooms with bunk beds (capacity of 4 or 6 students), a full bathroom and a small common room. All the cottages feature air conditioning and heating to ensure the comfort of the group.

Accommodation includes full board (breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack and dinner) that will be provided at the resort’s dining hall.
