Requirements to obtain the Spanish Nationality

Since October 2015, according to what was established by the new Spanish legislation, people wishing to obtain Spanish nationality, will have to pass two tests: DELE A2 and CCSE.

DELE A2

The DELE is the Official Diploma of Spanish as a Foreign Language. This test measures the level of proficiency of the candidate. To obtain the Spanish citizenship, the applicant will have to accredit the A2 Spanish level, for which purpose he/she will have to take this test, which is divided into 4 parts:

  • Reading comprehension (60 min.)
  • Listening comprehension (35 min.)
  • Written expression and interaction (50 min.)
  • Oral expression and interaction (15 min. + 15 min. preparation)

People from countries where the official language is Spanish are exempt from this test.

CCSE

CCSE is the test of Constitutional and Socio-Cultural Knowledge of Spain. This test consists of 25 questions related to the Spanish Constitution, society and culture. In order to obtain the PASS (APTO) qualification, candidates will have to answer correctly to 60% of the questions.
